IWF 2010 saw the launch of a ground-breaking new range of moving-column vertical panel saws from UK-based Zapkut Limited.

Through a combination of innovative design and novel materials technology, the Zapkut ZM range brings the benefits of moving column vertical panel saws within reach of smaller woodworking, signmaking and other operations.

Traditionally, smaller operations have relied on table saws or hand-held circular saws, often teamed with guide rails, for sheet material cutting. As well as requiring significant clear floor space, these solutions are compromises. Accurate dimensioning is time consuming, cutting large sheets or small pieces is awkward and bowing of thinner sheets can be problematic.

To make matters worse, table saws, being tables, tend to attract all manner of clutter which must be cleared before use, and both table and hand-held saws have exposed blades, increasing the risk of personal injury and associated legal complications, or accidental damage to workpieces.
